Alexander comes to Joyance with 19 years of VC experience. He began his career in the early 2000s, initially working in asset management and general management, but was inspired to transition into VC during his MBA at the University of Oxford. In 2007, Alex joined BrainsToVentures AG (btov, today: b2venture), operating out of St. Gallen, Berlin, and Munich, where he spent twelve years developing his VC expertise. In 2019, he moved to Philip Morris International to lead their VC team as Head of PM Equity Partner. After four years, he returned to an independent and somewhat more entrepreneurial setup focusing on supporting startups and VC funds. He started to work with and for Joyance Partners in early 2024, and was appointed as one of the three General Partners & Managing Partners in December 2025. Besides his activities as a VC investor, Alex moonlights as a guest lecturer at the University of St. Gallen, teaching MBA and EMBA students about venture capital and startup investments. He has also co-authored several books and podcasts on VC-related topics. Alex is based in Vevey, Switzerland.
